This Week’s Most Anticipated Release(s)
One of the books I am looking forward to the most this week is Dancing by Laurell K. Hamilton. Granted, it is only a novella, but considering it falls in with her Anita Blake series, it is a definite must read for me. I have been a fan of this series for a long time and anything Anita is a given for pre-order! Dancing releases on 9/17/2013.
About the series: Anita Blake is an Animator, who raises the dead for a living, as well as a Vampire Executioner and U.S. Marshal for the Regional Preternatural Investigation Team. She lives in St. Louis, were not only do wereanimals and vampires walk the streets, they have rights as citizens. Dancing is preceded by: Those Who Seek Forgiveness (novella in Strange Candy), Guilty Pleasures, Beyond the Ardeur (novella in Cravings), The Laughing Corpse, Circus of the Damned, The Lunatic Cafe, Bloody Bones, The Killing Dance, Burnt Offerings, Blue Moon, The Girl Who Was Infatuated With Death (novella in Bite), Obsidian Butterfly, Narcissus in Chains, Cerulean Sins, Incubus Dreams, Micah, Danse Macabre, The Harlequin, Blood Noir, Skin Trade, Flirt, Bullet, Hit List, Beauty (special e-book novella), Kiss the Dead, and Affliction.
Blurb for Dancing: For most people, summer barbecues are nothing to be afraid of. But Anita isn’t exactly plain vanilla—and neither is her love life. So it takes a special kind of courage to attend a barbecue thrown by her friend Sergeant Zerbrowski. Walking into a backyard full of cops and their families with wereleopards Micah and Nathaniel both looking gorgeous on her arm won’t be easy, even with almost-four-year-old Matthew Vespucci to break the ice…
Anita is determined to have a good time with her family, just like everyone else. But it doesn’t take long for tensions to rise among the adults and kids. And Anita will learn that gossip and innuendo can be just as dangerous as anything the undead can throw at her…
Next up is It Takes Two by Erin Nicholas, book #2 in her Counting On Love Series. I first discovered Nicholas when I stumbled onto the first book in this series, She’s the One, and I am looking forward to reading this next installment! It Takes Two releases on 9/17/2013.
About the series: What’s worse than your sister dating your best friend? That… times four! Just ask Conner Dixon. His four younger sisters are falling in love with his four best friends. What did he do to deserve this? Conner Dixon is an up and coming ace paramedic for the same hospital where Ben Torres, Sam Bradford, Mac Gordon, Dooley Miller and Kevin Campbell work. In fact, he’s filled in on the crew in the past and once made the mistake of hitting on Sara, Mac’s wife. Now Conner has his own crew, but his path crosses with the Bradford guys’ on a daily basis at the hospital and at Trudy’s, the popular bar across the street. And once the guys find out that Conner’s the quarterback on the amateur league team, the Omaha Hawks, they almost never miss a game. Not only do the guys love giving Conner a hard time, they—of course– can’t keep their advice about women and relationships to themselves. And then there’s Sam, who’s heart goes out to a guy with four sisters. Especially sisters who look and act like Conner’s do. It Takes Two is preceded by She’s The One.
Blurb for It Takes Two: How do you fall out of love with a man who’s all in? Isabelle Dixon never should have said yes to that first date, but she couldn’t resist Shane Kelley’s larger-than-life personality. Except now Shane seems determined to make their no-strings fling into something more. If she thought dating Shane was hard work, breaking up is proving to be much harder. Especially since she’s planning on making some major life changes that don’t include staying out all night, Jell-O shots, and a sex toy shop punch card. She needs a restful cabin getaway-alone-to gather her thoughts. And the strength to finally end things for good. Shane has always prided himself on being the good-time guy. Exactly Isabelle’s type…or so he thought. Yet ever since he suggested her moving in, she’s been pulling back. Thing is, Shane does everything with gusto-including falling in love. He’s not about to let her get away that easily. Even if it means chasing her heart down a crazy road to prove that no matter what life throws at them, they make a damned good team. Warning: Contains a strange road trip with several weird tourist stops, some hot sex in a car wash, and two people who are just crazy enough to be perfect for one another.
Another book I am extremely interested in reading is Come Together by Jessica Hawkins, Book #3 form her CityScape series. I read both previous novels and I just CANNOT rave over this series enough!! It’s fresh, presents a new take and outlook on romance, and yet still remains realistic and true to the characters personalities and reactions. Read with caution though as it does feature a main character that is tempted outside her marriage. But I really enjoyed it because Hawkins didn’t villainize the husband in this one – they are just a ‘normal’ couple who just weren’t right for each other. Definitely a title that steps outside the standard boundaries of the genre. It releases on 9/19/2013.
About the Series: The Cityscape Series is about the boundaries of devotion and deception. It’s a story of passion, choices and ultimately, love. It is preceded by Come Undone and Come Alive.
Blurb for Come Together: With a single decision, Olivia Germaine’s fantasy has become a reality. Now she is faced with two commitments: one she must make and one she must break. But in order to accept a love she never thought possible, Olivia will have to let go of the broken past that defines her – and of deeply-rooted fears that could ruin everything.
Everything is what David Dylan wants to give her, and it’s what he wants in return. He must prove to Olivia that despite his playboy ways, he’s worth leaving behind the stable future her husband can offer her. And can David break through to her before it does?
