Take Me Under by Rhyannon Byrd
Series: Dangerous Tides Book #1
Author: Rhyannon Byrd
Ben Hudson had a thing for shy, sexy Reese Monroe from the moment he first saw her three years ago. Back then, she was married and living in Boston—two very good reasons for the Miami detective with a bad-boy reputation to stay away.
But that was then…
Now Reese is divorced and moving to Florida, where her mother has rented her a small beach house—one that happens to be owned by Ben. Living right next door, he can’t get Reese’s soft curves out of his mind. He has waited three long years to touch her in all the ways he’s been dreaming about, and this time he won’t let anything get in his way.
For Reese, Ben’s sudden advances are thrilling but leave her stunned. With her limited experience in the bedroom, she never expected a man with such a wicked reputation to go after her. She knows she should be on guard, but he’s a temptation she can’t resist. And when trouble follows her down from Boston, threatening her life, Ben may be the only one who can help her.
Review: This is one of those books that just had me going WOW – it was super HOT, fraught with sexual tension, and just intriguing overall. It was really hard to put this book down! I am a fan of Byrd anyway, but honestly I believe this is my absolute favorite of her books so far.
Nothing gets to me more than someone who has been waiting years to claim the one person who has them so tied up in knots that they can’t even see straight. And Reese is that for Ben. He wanted her the moment he saw her – but she was married. But he does discover that things are not all roses between her and her husband, and he makes a vow to himself that if she is ever free from her marriage that he will waste no time claiming her as his own. And boy, does he keep that vow. Byrd does a wonderful job describing the sexual torment Ben goes through as he tries not to rush her into something she is not ready for. The scenes between them practically scorch the pages.
I loved how Reese turns the tables on the bad-boy player Ben. For the first time, Ben wants to spend the whole night with a woman – and not just leave after the fun and games. It was funny watching him deal with Reese’s refusal to stay the night with him. I loved how much he wanted her, and it was pleasure to read about these two and watching their relationship develop.
This was a super hot, super sexy, captivating read that I couldn’t get enough of. I immediately went and searched for book two in the series, and I’m sad to say that it is not set for release until June of 2014! (sigh) I apparently have a long wait before I can get more from this amazing series – but if this one is anything like the first, it will be well worth it!
