Author:  Rebecca Ethington

Joclyn is in hiding, hunted by the man she still desperately loves. Ryland is gone, his mind erased; no memory of Joclyn remains, but Joclyn’s heart desperately begs her to hold out hope. Meanwhile the black-eyed monster that possesses him attempts to kill her over and over again.
If it wasn’t for Ilyan, Joclyn would be dead by now. Ilyan, the man who once stalked her, is now Joclyn’s protector, the only person she has left. He protects Joclyn from the men who seek to end her life, and all the while, she is haunted by dreams where Ryland begs her to break the bond between them. Ilyan is there. Always there.  Ilyan trains and prepares her, teaching her everything she needs to know in the hope that one day she can avenge Ryland, if not protect herself from him.  And then, there is her father.  The man who has never been there is suddenly responsible for everything. And who he is has made Joclyn into something she never wanted to be:  The Silnỳ.

Review:  I was really surprised when I read the first book in this series, Kiss of Fire.  To be honest, usually when I pick up a freebie read my thoughts are usually, “Huh, I can see why it was free!”  I just have never had much luck with picking up really good freebie titles.  That is so not the case with Ethington’s series!  In this case, it was simply a great marketing tool, because I have to confess as soon as I was done with it I went straight to Amazon and bought book #2!  And if Kiss of Fire was great, Eyes of Ember is simply outstanding!  This a phenomenal series that I am so glad I stumbled upon!

Again, to be honest I have not been a huge fan of YA – I guess I was one of the many that was under the misconception that I had “outgrown” such titles.  YA now, and YA that I remember from when I was growing up are two vastly different things.  It took The Hunger Games to really bring me around as to how great this genre could be.  Ever since discovering the wonderful tale of Katniss Everdeen, I have continued to explore the YA genre in search of more books that call to me and the same sort of level.  I wasn’t having any luck until I stumbled onto this one.  But let me tell you, it has been well worth the wait.  I am astounded that this series is not way more popular than it is!  Ethington has definitely won me over as a fan, and I just can’t get enough of these books!

Eyes of Ember picks right up from the ending of Kiss of Fire, and I’m not going to go into a whole lot of detail because to me this is simply one of those books you just have to experience for yourself…:)  There aren’t enough words to describe how great this series is!  I will tell you that many secrets are revealed, and questions are answered – and you won’t want to miss it!

I also want to congratulate Rebecca Ethington on the success of her books – I know that her series is being eyed by some major publishers, and I can see why!  The bad news is Book #4 in the series is being delayed…:(  However, from now until December 12th you can grab Eyes of Ember and the next book in the series, and Scorched Treachery (book #3) for only .99!
