This Week’s Most Anticipated Release(s)
So, as you guys (hopefully) noticed we didn’t have a Most Anticipated post for last week. Not just because of the holidays (though hopefully all of you had a wonderful Christmas!!), but because of a lack of new releases that had me really excited. Don’t worry though – I intend to make up for it in this week’s post! We have quite a few releases to help you bring in the New Year! First up, we have Heart of Stone by Christine Warren. I am a huge fan of her Others series, so I am really excited and interested to read the first of her new series on Gargoyles! Warren definitely has the talent to pull it off, so I am eager to pick up a copy…:)
Blurb for Heart of Stone: Ella Harrow is trying to carve out a normal life for herself. Well, as normal as an art geek with psychic abilities can hope for. As museum docent and gift-shop manager, Ella is able to keep her distance from people—and her powers in check—while surrounding herself with the artifacts she loves. But how on earth is she supposed to act normal when a thousand-year-old statue on the museum’s terrace suddenly comes to life? Not your ordinary gargoyle, Kees has been asleep for eons, waiting for a portent of evil to wake him from his slumber. Kees isn’t a vision; he’s a bat-winged guardian created to protect the world from the seven demons of the Dark. Somehow, Ella triggered his reawakening. Maybe the demons have been unleashed? Maybe his heart is finally ready to be chiseled open? The fate of the world isn’t carved in stone… yet.
As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before in previous posts, I have become a fast fan of author Abby Niles. She also has an awesome book coming out this week, Fighting Love. I really like the MMA theme novels, and if this one is anything like the first, this one is one you won’t want to miss!
About the series: The men in this series find more than just the next big fight – love sneaks right up behind them and knocks them for a loop….and punches more of a punch that any heavyweight fighter! Fighting Love is preceded by Extreme Love.
Blurb for Fighting Love: Talk about kicking a fighter while he’s down. Former Middleweight champion and confirmed bachelor Tommy “Lightning” Sparks has lost it all: his belt, his career, and now his home. After the devastating fire, he moves in with his drama-free best friend, Julie. One encounter changes everything and Julie is no longer the girl he’s spent his life protecting but a desirable woman he wants to take to his bed. Knowing his reputation, he’s determined to protect Julie more than ever—from himself. Veterinarian Julie Rogers has been in love with Tommy since she was ten, but would love to get over the man. She’s quiet nights at home and a glass of wine. He’s clubbing all night and shots of tequila. As friends they work great. As a couple? No way in hell. She just can’t get her heart to agree. When she starts spending time with another fighter, the man who’s always treated her like a sister is suddenly not being very brotherly and enflames her body like never before. Can two childhood friends make a relationship work, or will they lose everything because they stopped FIGHTING LOVE
About the series: What’s better than a werewolf? A naked werewolf! And when these werewolves meet their mates for the first time, they are definitely missing a little….ummm, coverage…..both the clothing and the furry kind! How to Run with a Naked Werewolf is preceded by How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf and The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf.
Blurb from How to Run with a Naked Werewolf: Caleb Graham is a werewolf by nature, a tracker by profession. He uses his “extra gifts” to find people, and not always in the most legal or ethical manner. He doesn’t care what they’ve done, or who wants them found, as long as his considerable fee is paid. He likes his life simple and uncomplicated. Anna Moder, former physician to Caleb’s pack, happens across Caleb during a particularly violent “negotiation” that has left him bloodied and unconscious. She helps him, despite the fact that he’s cost her a car, so he insists that she stay with him on the road for a while. As they grow closer, Anna looks past the gruff exterior and and the questionable job to thoroughly decent werewolf underneath. Anna – who is careful to edit her involvement with Caleb’s pack from their conversations – doesn’t talk about why a nice girl wants to live in the middle of frozen nowhere, but she’s obviously on the run from something. When Anna’s past collides with Caleb’s current assignment from one of his sleazier contacts, Caleb finally has to make a choice—protect his job…or his potential mate?
About the series: What could be better than a book about shapeshifters? Why, a whole series devoted to a town full of them! Prey and Prejudice is preceded by Rachel’s Totem, In Plain Sight, Foxy Lady, Outfoxed, A Matter of Pride, Right Wolf Right Time, By the Tail, and Feral Attraction.
Blurb from Prey and Prejudice: She’ll take his heart–one bite at a time.
Now that the political nightmare over leadership is over, Miles Berman can’t wait to settle back in Miami and focus on his million-dollar businesses. Problem is, everyone somehow thinks he’s the new pride leader–a position he doesn’t want. At. All. Worse, Zoe Castille has roared into town, hell-bent on rattling more than a few cages. She wants control of the pride, which includes Miles at her beck and call. But Miles doesn’t bow to anyone. Not even a woman whose painted-on denims turn his brain clear off. No one plays Zoe, in or out of the bedroom, but she’s confident she can show the arrogant playboy who’s boss. He wears clothes with labels she can’t pronounce, has women flaunting themselves at him, and grates on her last nerve. Yet she can’t stop thinking about him. She soon realizes that to get what she wants, she might have to give in a little. Then Miles shows her the pleasures of relinquishing control.
