Make You See Stars by Jocelyn Han
Series: Stardust Erotic Romance Series Book #2
Author: Jocelyn Han
A fresh start…Determined to have a life of her own, Victoria Weiss flees the safe haven of New Berlin on the planet Mars by accepting an internship on the most remote space station in the solar system. Being the daughter of the Great German ambassador isn’t all glitter and glamour, and Tori needs a fresh start away from her overbearing parents. But running away from your past isn’t easy when you’ve hidden away the darkest parts. Tori hasn’t trusted men ever since a sexual encounter that left her soul scarred, and when the station’s Chief of Security shows an interest in her, she feels torn between running away from him and allowing herself to open up to new possibilities. A troubled past…The last thing Alen Novak expects is to lose his head over an Elite girl. But when Tori Weiss walks into his life, he can’t help but feel she’s different from the Great German leaders who effectively destroyed his Croatian homeland during the Great Wars in Europe. Even though he is the station’s Security Chief, Alen doesn’t command the respect of all his colleagues because of his prison past – and he’s afraid Tori will dismiss him for it right out of the gate. After all, he’s been hurt by a woman he loved before. Fanning the flames of passion…There’s no way to avoid working together, though, and the two are irresistibly drawn to each other. Will Tori and Alen learn how to face their darkest fears, or will the past nip their passionate love in the bud?
A sweet, steamy romance for lovers of New Adult with a hint of Futuristic.
Review: My first experience with Jocelyn Han was with the prior novella Fly You To The Moon, which I found to be a really interesting and enjoyable read (rated with a B-). This one, however, leaves even that one in the dust! I was very, VERY impressed with this title….it was an amazing read! There are a number of things that would have normally turned me off to this type of book – the first being that it is technically considered a New Adult (NA) genre book. New Adult is really not a favorite genre of mine – with a few exceptions. Mostly because there seems to be a level of maturity that is missing – I mean, even the Young Adult novels these days have more maturity! However, in this course of this one, you completely forget that it’s a NA book – which was a definite plus! Futuristic can also be a hit or miss – in this case, it was a definite hit! While there is enough ‘futuristic/sci-fi’ emphasis to make it seem really intriguing – and give you a whole new world to uncover – it’s not so caught up into the details that you are left overwhelmed, lost, and confused. And something that might turn off new readers? This is part of a series – which may leave many of you thinking that you can’t grab this one up without reading the prior novella. That is NOT the case – this one is totally stand alone.
Beyond all that? The characters were amazingly likeable, fun, and perfect for each other. I loved reading about them, feeling their chemistry, and laughing at their antics. The storyline definitely kept your interest and was so well done that I am eager to read the next one. I was so impressed by the advances the author made from one book to the next, that I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!
