This Week’s Most Anticipated

81iisuHO5lL._SL1500_This seems to be the week for MMA fighters – and no complaints here!  I love a good MMA book!  August 26th sees the release of Winning Love by Abby Niles.  I have been a big fan of hers since reading Extreme Love (the first  book in this series) – although ever since then I have loved absolutely anything she has written!   Although, the Love in the Extreme series is my favorite…:)  So, I can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

About the series:  For these MMA fighter’s the biggest fight of their lives isn’t in the cage…..Winning Love is preceded by Extreme Love and Fighting Love.

Blurb from Winning Love:   Mac “The Snake” Hannon has spent years throwing himself into cage fighting as a way to lash back at the natural disaster that destroyed his future. A call for help has Mac returning to the one place he swore never to return: Kansas—in the height of tornado season.  There he meets free-spirited Gayle Matthews. At first he wants nothing to do with the infuriatingly persistent woman, but the crazy challenges she tosses his way are impossible to resist. As she thaws years of bitterness, bringing back the Mac he believed long gone, he starts to make peace with the past and see the future again. Until he learns she chases his worst nightmare—then he can’t get away fast enough.

Meteorologist and storm chaser, Gayle Matthews is no stranger to being left behind and now believes in living in the moment. She wants to do just that with the handsome extreme fighter with the achingly sad eyes. As she works to replace the sorrow with desire, she finds herself breaking her one rule: have fun but don’t fall in love. When he suddenly pushes her away and she discovers the horrifying reason why, she issues one more challenge: face his fear and come on a chase with her.

Will squaring off with the past lead to a victory for heartache or love?

91Ae36Sa3pL._SL1500_The 26th also sees the release of No Limits by Lori Foster – the first in a new MMA series (although there was a short prequel to give you a little taste of this series).  Another one I am excited to grab this week!

About the series:  These MMA fighters meet their matches – and the fight to win their heart is the biggest match of all!  No Limits is the first ‘official’ release in the series, but is preceded by a short prequel, Hard Knocks.

Blurb for No Limits:  Cannon Colter is quintessential hero material: chiseled jawline, shredded body—the works. He’s also the guy who rescued Yvette Sweeny from kidnappers, only to put an end to her romantic dreams. These days, she’s older, smarter, determined to face whatever life throws her way. Even the prospect of sharing a house and business with Cannon.   Cannon knew Yvette wanted him three years ago. But she was young—and some things are worth waiting for. Thrown together by her grandfather’s legacy, he realizes how deep Yvette’s scars really go, and how much danger lurks in their quiet town. As pent-up desire explodes between them, protecting her becomes the only fight that matters. And he’ll break all the rules to do it….

813UiDhlfKL._SL1400_This one – another fighter novel – looks interesting, though I have never read this author before.  I may end up reading this whole series!  For now, the newest title Torch by KD Jones will be out on the 26th (although it is the seventh book in the Galactic Cage Fighter series for those of you that are new to the author like me!)

About the series:  Looking for a little sci-fi cage fighting?  Check out the Galactic Cage Fighters series!  Torch is preceded by Rage, Talon, Taurus, Zara, Hammer, and Zen.

Blurb for Torch:  Left with no choice, Isis flees her home world and goes to the one place her own people would never think to look for her. She signs on as a fighter for the Galactic Cage Fighters Association on the halfsie side. A new start for a new life, in a career she loves and friends she adores. Unexpectedly, she finds herself attracted to the wrong male. Her only problem, her new life may be threatened as those that wish to control her and return her to her old life close in on her.  Torch is a Voltan halfsie fighting for the Galactic Cage Fighters Association. He joined the GCFA so he could get to know his niece that he never knew existed. Torch knows he has a tendency to self-destruct but can’t seem to stop drowning his loneliness in alcohol and females. That was until her—Isis. The one female who refuses his flirtations, which drives him crazy. How could any female deny him?
Torch is fire and Isis is ice. The moment Torch sees her he knows he has to have her. And he is the one temptation Isis cannot deny. Do they give in to their mutual attraction or will their passion erupt and burn them both? Alternatively, will the truth of who Isis is pull them apart forever?

Extreme Love by Abby Niles

81u5+IcQtcL._SL1500_Title:  Extreme Love

Series:  N/A

Author:  Abby Niles

Rating:  A+

Dante “Inferno” Jones is used to winning in the ring. But when the MMA fighter meets pretty Caitlyn Moore, he seems to be striking out left and right. The more Cait denies his advances, the more intrigued he becomes by the sharp-tongued beauty. She’s a challenge he can’t resist.
Comfortable with the average Joe, Cait doesn’t get it when the ultra-masculine Dante walks into her life and expresses an interest in her. Sure, she’s shed eighty pounds and her confidence is building, but there’s nothing spectacular about her. Certainly not enough to hang onto a ripped babe-magnet like Dante, whose violent profession, catty groupies, and cruel competitors are already making her life a living hell.  Dante’s light-hearted pursuit quickly becomes a battle to win her heart as they find themselves thrown together again and again—and it’s affecting his training. Cait won’t let him lose the biggest fight of his career because of her, but when her plan to keep him focused lands her in the dangerous clutches of Dante’s vicious opponent, there is more at stake than just the championship belt.

Review:  Wow!  I really loved this book!  First off let me say that I usually don’t like to look at other people’s reviews before I write a my own.  To be honest though, this book has been floating around on my TBR list for awhile now, and I was really on the fence as to whether or not to read it.  Part of what put me off were some of the other reviews on Amazon – but boy, am I glad I didn’t listen to those!  I have read some other of works from Abby Niles, and was very impressed – in fact, she has become one of my favorite authors I have recently discovered!  And the book is about MMA – which I seem to really, really like…LOL  So despite the reviews I took a chance…:)

I can see what other reviewers were complaining about, though – I just didn’t happen to view it the same way apparently.  Cait’s weight was mentioned alot….I’m sure the other reviewers could pick out dozens and dozens of examples of it throughout the book.  And that’s okay – they are entitled to their opinion as well.  I seen a strong woman trying to overcome an issue that she has been struggling with her whole life.  Those issues, and the experiences she suffered throughout the course of her life, shaped who she is.  Those don’t just go away because she loses the weight.  No matter how much she has changed on the outside – it doesn’t change who she is on the inside.  Or how she feels about herself.  In this book, she really struggles with looking at herself in a different light.  Part of what made this book amazing was the fun and supportive friends she had to help her.  (A quote from her friend, Paul: “Look at yourself.  I mean, really look at yourself.  Not as you see you, but what’s actually reflected back at you.”)  They even tackle her at one point to keep her from changing out of one of her new, more revealing outfits before a date with Dante.  The wonderful thing about Cait is that she knew her insecurities were trying to rule her life – and she made the steps to move forward and accept the new her.

And you simply have to love Dante – the guy doesn’t give up no matter how much Cait tries to deter him.  I loved his persistence.  It was refreshing to see him – the guy- want more on an emotional level.  He is the perfect alpha male – with a soft, sweet side as well.  And the fun supporting characters added a wonderful lighthearted element to the story than I really enjoyed.  My favorite line?  (also by Paul I might add):  “So tell me, is G.I. Joe’s thingy a teeny-weeny…or a thicky-wicky?”  LOL

What can I say – Abby Niles has won her way into my heart!  Every book is so captivating!  From now on – automatic pre-order for her wonderful books!
