81F1mXkgvbL._SL1500_This we have the eleventh book in the Elemental Assassins series by Jennifer Estep.  I have only recently discovered this series, but have quickly devoured all the books in it, and have been eagerly awaiting Black Widow, due out on the 25th.

About the series:  Gin Blanco, an assassin codenamed the Spider who can control the elements of Ice and Stone. When she’s not busy killing people and righting wrongs, Gin runs a barbecue restaurant called the Pork Pit in the fictional Southern metropolis of Ashland. The city is also home to giants, dwarves, vampires, and elementals – Air, Fire, Ice, and Stone.  Black Widow is preceded by Spider’s Bite, Web of Lies, Venom, Tangled Threads, Spider’s Revenge, Thread of Death (novella), By A Thread, Widow’s Web, Deadly Sting, Kiss of Venom (novella), Heart of Venom, The Spider, and Poison Promise.

Blurb from Black Widow:  Lethal, sexy, and always ready to protect her friends, Gin Blanco (a.k.a. the Spider) takes on the mysterious M.M. Monroe in book twelve of the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series.
There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill—and my murder to plan. With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.
The thing is, I’m not the only target. I can see through the tangled threads enough to know that every bit of bad luck my friends have been having lately is no accident—and that each unfortunate “coincidence” is just one more arrow drawing ever closer to hitting the real bull’s-eye. Though new to Ashland, this M. M. Monroe is no stranger to irony, trying to get me, an assassin, framed for murder. Yet, as my enemy’s master plan is slowly revealed, I have a sinking feeling that it will take more than my powerful Ice and Stone magic to stop my whole life from going up in flames.

51av6l+bzcLI’m sure it is no surprise that Smiley by Laurann Dohner hits the top of my most wanted listed tomorrow the 28th.  I can’t get enough of this series!  I am eagerly awaiting a female species stories, but I am certainly not complaining with anything Dohner graces us with that is for sure!

About the series:  The New Species are genetically altered beings that are part human and part animal.  Raised in labs, most of them have previously only been known by a number, instead of names – and experimented upon by the scientists that made them.  Slowly more and more of them are being freed, and creating their own “communities” away from the humans.  And when the mating instinct hits them, no other female will do!  Smiley is preceded by Fury, Slade, Valiant, Justice, Brawn, Wrath, Tiger, Obsidian, Shadow, Moon, True, and Darkness.

Blurb from Smiley:  Vanni is furious when her fiancé tricks her into attending a conference where his father’s church is protesting the New Species Organization. She hates everything chose vile bigots stand for. Vanni goes to the bar to cool off and ends up seated next to a handsome New Species. Things heat up fast when they are both drugged.

Smiley doesn’t want to believe the sweet human would dose them with the breeding drug. He’s willing to trust her and determined to save her life. He’ll hold her. Protect her. Offer up his body to distract them both from the pain. She is his female, even if she doesn’t realize it yet.

Honorable Mentions – The next one is just a short, but I thought it was worth a mention, and is one I will be grabbing for sure – Sudden Backtrack by Kim Harrison, which will by a short story from the world of the Hollows.  Granted, it will be told from Al’s point of view, I gather, but I miss this series so much and it will definitely be leaving a hole in my reading series bookshelf pre-order list….LOL     You also may want to keep an eye out for the new one by Iona Andrews called Burn for Me which starts off a new series – I am a bit on the fence on this one.  The blurb hasn’t reeled me in yet, but I love the Kate Daniels series so I want to see what other people have to say about it before I decide if it’s something I want to pursue.  I love Nalini Singh, particularly her Psy-changling series, but I’m not really a fan of her Archangel series.  The first few books were okay, but I just wasn’t feeling that series as much and just kind of quite following it.  If you are a fan though then make a note that Book 7 Archangel’s Shadows also releases tomorrow…:)

into_the_darkness_book_pageOctober 21st marks the release of Into Darkness by one of my favorite authors J.T Geissinger.  If you are unfamiliar with her, trust me, you want to remedy that – quickly!  I’m a bit sad to see the end of this series – especially when I’ve already been hit with a few other endings of some of my favs lately (think Rachel Morgan and the Hollows series by Kim Harrison).  But I know Geissinger won’t let me down – and that I can expect other great things in the future!

About the series:  Deep within the primeval forests of southern England, a race of beautiful, savage shape-shifters lives hidden from the everyday world. The Ikati are bound together by ancient bloodlines and a ruthless code of secrecy that punishes traitors with death.  Into Darkness is preceded by Shadow’s Edge, Edge of Oblivion, Rapture’s Edge, Edge of Darkness, and Darkness Bound.

Blurb from Into Darkness:  In New Vienna, capital of the oppressive global government formed after the Flash, three things are certain: the sun is poisonous, speaking out is dangerous, and being different will get you killed.

And Lumina Bohn is extraordinarily different.

Living in terror of discovery, Lu knows nothing of her past—but she knows she must pretend to be human to survive. When an incident at work triggers her astonishing powers, she becomes the target of an international manhunt. Only one person can save her: Magnus, the enigmatic stranger haunting her dreams.

Magnus rescues the outcasts called Aberrants from capture and torture. As Lu begins exploring her powers among her people, her feelings for Magnus intensify. He’s determined to stay emotionally distant, yet their smoldering passion soon becomes impossible to resist.

But when a shocking revelation threatens the lives of every remaining Aberrant, Lu and Magnus must risk everything, confronting their enemies in an explosive final stand to save their kind from the darkest fate of all: extinction.

81pblNnugTL._SL1500_I have eagerly been waiting for the second book in this series(Moonbound Vampire Clan), and I must say that Chained By Night by Larissa Ione is definitely one of my most anticipated.  Of course, it’s by Larissa Ione so that alone is reason enough to grab this title, but I can’t wait to revisit this world and the characters in it!

About the series:  A fascinating vampire world steeped in Native American traditions and lore, where vampires have been slaves for centuries – only to fight now to prevent their own extinction.  Chained by Night is preceded by Bound by Night.

To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader’s daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans.
THE LOVER OF HIS SOUL…But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate. Will Hunter stay true to his word? 51cJbMJPwPLI’ve had this one on pre=order for weeks, and I can’t wait to read it!  Darkness by Laurann Dohner is out today, September 23rd – and is a definite must grab!

Darkness is preceded by Fury, Slade, Valiant, Justice, Brawn, Wrath, Tiger, Obsidian, Shadow, Moon, and True.

Blurb from Darkness:  Kat’s boss wants dirt on the NSO. She is sent to Homeland undercover but everything goes wrong as soon as she enters the front gates. She is arrested by a big, powerful, sexy New Species but she is not frightened. He turns her on and things heat up fast between them. Now, she just hopes he doesn’t break her heart.

91ZrOoT+vXL._SL1500_This seems to be the month of great new releases – we had a bunch last week that I was thrilled about, and another book I have been waiting for for!  I love the Hollows/Rachael Morgan series by Kim Harrison, and this series sees the release of The Witch with No Name on September 9th.  An absolute must buy for me – before I even read the blurb!  It’s a little sad since it is the final book in the series – but irresistible because I simply have to know how things end!

About the series:  Rachel Morgan knows magic—earth, ley line, even the forbidden demon magic—and that knowledge has saved her life more than once.  In a world full of demons, elves, and genetically modified killer tomatoes, Rachel goes head to head to protect her friends – and prevent going to the Ever After permanently in the process!  The Witch with no Name is preceded by Dead Witch Walking, The Good, The Bad, and The Undead, Every Which Way But Dead, A Fistful of Charms, For A Few Demons More, The Outlaw Demon Wails, White Witch, Black Curse, Black Magic Sanction, Pale Demon, A Perfect Blood, Ever After, and The Undead Pool.

Blurb from The Witch with No Name:  It’s Rachel Morgan’s ultimate adventure . . . and anything can happen in this final book in the New York Times bestselling Hollows series.

Rachel Morgan has come a long way from her early days as an inexperienced bounty hunter. She’s faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She’s crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon. She’s lost friends and lovers and family, and an old enemy has unexpectedly become something much more.

But power demands responsibility, and world-changers must always pay a price. Rachel has known that this day would come—and now it is here.

To save Ivy’s soul and the rest of the living vampires, to keep the demonic ever after and our own world from destruction, Rachel Morgan will risk everything. . . .

9111xDvaSEL._SL1500_This is a great week for new releases, and there are a number of them that I can’t wait to get my hands on!  The first of which is The Winter Long by Seanan McQuire due out on Sept. 2nd – which I must admit I have been waiting forever for!  I absolutely LOVE the October Daye series – it is one of my favorites (if not my top one)!  The only thing is that it is about a year span or so before each new title is released…:(  And considering I can’t put these books down once I start, they only last me a day before I’m back to waiting again.  However, I have to say that Seanan McQuire makes each one well worth the wait!

About the series:  October Daye knows how cruel Faerie can be to its changeling children. Born in San Francisco and carried to the Summerlands by her pureblood mother when she was just a child, she was raised in a world that never seemed capable of understanding her. She ran away the moment the opportunity presented itself, only to find that the human world wasn’t any better.  Things have been going downhill ever since.  The Winter Long is preceded by Rosemary and Rue, A Local Habitation, An Artificial Night, Late Eclipses, One Salt Sea, Ashes of Honor, and Chimes at Midnight.

Blurb from The Winter Long:  Toby thought she understood her own past; she thought she knew the score.  She was wrong.  It’s time to learn the truth.  The Winter Long sees questions answered and old debts finally put to rest. There is more to lose than there has ever been before, and whatever comes next, it will not come easy…

81XMiXIk1RL._SL1500_Next up is Son of No One by Sherrilyn Kenyon also due out on Sept 2nd.  And really?  What else is there to say?  I’m a fan of the Dark Hunter series, and have yet to be disappointed by any of her books.  The  good thing is that Kenyon also manages to continually release book after book in one series or another – you always seem to have something new to read from her.  She’s simply amazing at delivering a phenomenal read!

About the series:  In the world of the Dark-Hunters nothing is ever as it seems. Life and death both take on a whole new meaning as this immortal cadre of warriors fight to protect mankind from those creatures and demons who would prey on us. It’s dark. It’s deadly and it’s a whole lot of fun and laughter, with larger than life characters.  This is book #24 in the series, and is preceded by Fantasy Lover, Night Pleasures, Night Embrace, Dance with the Devil, Kiss of the Night, Night Play, Seize the Night, Sins of the Night, Unleash the Night, Dark Side of the Moon, The Dream-Hunter, Devil May Cry, Upon the Midnight Clear, Dream Chaser, Acheron, One Silent Night, Dream Warrior, Bad Moon Rising, No Mercy, Retribution, The Guardian, Time Untime, and Styxx.

Blurb from Son of No One:  In Son of No One, next in the blockbuster The Dark-Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, it’s not easy being life’s own personal joke, but Josette Landry has made an unstable peace with the beast. Completely down on her luck, Josette takes a job with a local paranormal group as a photographer and camerawoman. Yeah, they’re even crazier than she is. The only paranormal thing she believes in is the miracle that keeps her rusted-out hoopty running. But when something truly evil is released into the world, they are forced to call in reinforcements.  From the moment Josette meets Cadegan, she knows something about him isn’t quite right. Mysterious and armed with lethal sarcasm, he seems a lot older than his age.
Centuries ago, Cadegan was viciously betrayed into an immortal prison by the only person he’d ever trusted and was cast into an immortal prison. Forced against his will to do good, he hates everything in life. All he wants is a way out. But for the damned there is only eternal suffering. And yet there is something about Josette that intrigues him. Something he can’t seem to fight and the last time he felt this way about a woman, it cost him everything.  He knows he has to stay away from her, but the unleashed demon is hell-bent on consuming her soul. If one more innocent is taken, he will be sent back to an unimaginable prison that makes his current hell look like paradise. But how can he keep her safe when his being with her is the greatest threat of all?

This Week’s Most Anticipated

Lately not much has come out that really has me excited – enough so to be on the ‘most anticipated’ anyway. Or ones that slipped under my radar!!   But too many weeks have gone by without a post here, so I’ll feature a few that I think may perk your interest.

919oNh+UT+L._SL1500_Sherrilyn Kenyon is another one of my favorites – and have yet to figure out how she releases soo many books, sooo often!…She always seems to have a new release out – which is great for me, because I hate waiting for new books from my favorite authors!  And the best thing?…her writing never seems to go stale or hit a lag…!  I love her League series, and Born of Fury is a definite must read for that alone…:)

About the series:  Hell’s New HeroesIn the Ichidian Universe no one was safe. People were dragged from their homes and killed in the streets- victims of a ruthless tyrant who was bent on being the sole ruler of their entire empire. Those who opposed him and his army formed an alliance called The League which fell under the leadership of the Quorum.  After they put down the tyrant, the Quorum realized that the best way to keep trouble from starting was to cut it off at its head. A separate group of soldiers was needed, The League Assassins. Highly trained and highly valued, they are the backbone of the government.  But not even the League is immune to corruption…Welcome to a world where corrupt assassination politics dominate everything and everyone- because sometimes the cure really is worse than the illness. It’s kill or be killed. You’re either the hunter or the prey.  But there are those who will protect you. Men and women who come from the streets and from bloodied backgrounds of survival. You just have to decide is they’re better than the ones chasing you…Or worse.  Sarcastic, loyal, highly trained and lethal, these men and women are the next generation of heroes. They know how to laugh in the face of madness and danger, and to endure the worst The League and their enemies can hurl at them. Most of all, they know to fight and protect.  The war is on…Born of Fury is preceded by Born of Night, Born of Fire, Born of Ice, Fire & Ice, Born of Shadows, Born of Silence, and Cloak & Silence.

Blurb from Born of Fury:  Counted among the fiercest Andarion warriors ever born, Hauk is one of the five founding members of the Sentella: an organization that has declared war on the League. They rule the Ichidian universe with an iron fist and terrify it with an army of well-trained assassins. Hauk’s enemies are legion, but he fears nothing and no one. He will do whatever it takes to survive and protect his Sentella brethren.  Sumi Antaxas is one of the best assassins the League has ever trained. In her world, failure is not an option and she has never met a target she couldn’t execute. So when she’s assigned Hauk, she believes it’ll be a quick and easy mission. But nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and Hauk is far better skilled than any she’s faced before.

81yksez2SmL._SL1500_It hasn’t been long since I discovered Thea Harrison and her Elder Races series, but I’ve read enough to know that I’m going to pick up any and all of her books!  This latest edition, Peanut Goes To School, is only a novella, but hey, I’ll take what I can get!…;)

About the series:  Set in a world where Light and Dark Fae, Nightkind, Demonkind, and Wyr live, work and love right alongside humans….Peanut Goes To School is preceded by Dragon Bound, Storm’s Heart, Serpent’s Kiss, True Colors (novella), Oracle’s Moon, Natural Evil (novella), Devil’s Gate (novella), Hunter’s Season (novella), Lord’s Fall, The Wicked (novella), Kinked, Dragos Takes A Holiday (novella), and Pia Saves The Day (novella).

Blurb for Peanut Goes To School:  Dragos Cuelebre is no longer the only dragon.

At just six months of age, he has already grown to the size of a large five-year-old boy. He can read, write in complete sentences, and his math skills are off the chart.
A white dragon in his Wyr form, Liam also holds more Power than almost anyone else. In an effort to give him a taste of normality, no matter how fleeting, his parents Pia and Dragos enroll him in first grade.
They hope school will help teach Liam how to relate to others, a vital skill that will help him control his growing Power. But school has a surprising number of pitfalls, and relating to others can be a tricky business.
When a classmate is threatened, Liam must quickly learn self-control, how to rein in his instincts, and govern his temper, because there’s no doubt about it—he is fast becoming one of the most dangerous creatures in all of the Elder Races.
