918Gx2IeVNL._SL1500_Today I am snatching up a few books that I have missed grabbing the last couple of weeks as the summer flies by and I feel the need to cram in more and more things before I run out of nice summer weather!  One of the ones I am surprised I haven’t grabbed sooner is Crave the Night by Lara Adrian.  I remember when I first started this series(Midnight Breeds)….which I admit was amid much skepticism….lol…..vampires are really aliens….WHAT?  How the heck is she going to pull THIS off?  But Lara Adrian surprised me and I have continued to remain a huge fan of hers!  Trust me, if you can get over that first initial surprise and skepticism, you will love this series!

About the series: Prepare for seduction as Lara Adrian unleashes a dark new breed of vampire . . .Part human, part otherworldly, the Breed has lived among humankind for thousands of years, maintaining a tentative peace built on secrecy, power, and the dark justice carried out by the formidable warriors of the Order.  But now, a blood war within the race is set to ignite. Vampires are going Rogue in startling numbers, feeding without discretion, killing humans in the streets. It is up to the Order to stop the spreading threat of Rogue domination–and in so doing, each of the warriors will be forced to confront private demons, darkest secrets, deepest fears. Some will know triumph, some will know loss, but each warrior can count on one thing: Love, when it finds him, will often come at the worst possible moment, with the least likely woman . . . and it will bring each of these powerful males to his knees.  Crave the Night is preceded by Kiss of Midnight, Kiss of Crimson, Midnight Awakening, Midnight Rising, Veil of Midnight, Ashes of Midnight, Shades of Midnight, Taken by Midnight, Deeper Than Midnight, Darker After Midnight, and Edge of Dawn.

Blurb from Crave the Night:  Born and raised to be an emotionless killing machine, Nathan is one of the most lethal Breed vampires in existence. A key member of the Order—an elite group of warriors charged with protecting both mortals and vampires—Nathan executes each mission with flawless precision and a total lack of mercy. Now he must pursue a powerful, hidden enemy. But Nathan’s hard discipline and training are no match for the fierce pull he feels toward a young woman he has no right to desire—a woman of wealth and high social standing who has long been promised to another Breed male, and who may also prove to be the key to rooting out Nathan’s elusive quarry.  Jordana lives a life of glittering privilege as a member of a prominent Breed family in Boston. Surrounded by fine things and fawning admirers, Jordana wants for nothing—until she crosses paths with a dark, intense warrior from the Order and finds herself swept into an impulsive, sizzling kiss that neither of them will forget. As much as she tries to deny her deep feelings for Nathan, Jordana cannot resist the craving to be near him, to break through his forbidding walls and see the man he truly is. But getting close to Nathan will thrust Jordana into a treacherous new world, forcing her to risk all she has and all she knows about herself and her past. And loving this seductive man could be the most dangerous temptation of all.

910JVdA9UFL._SL1500_I absolutely LOVE the Kate Daniel series by Ilona Andrews.  Surprisingly, this is another one of those that I started with a little bit of uncertainty.  I’m so glad I started it, though….this is one of those series that I would have hated to have missed out on.  I have to also say that the title of Curran and Fathers and Sons, which are told from Curran’s point of view are the best I have ever read from a male characters POV.  Magic Breaks is one I have been waiting for!  (Released on July 29th)

About the series:  The world has suffered a magic apocalypse. We pushed the technological progress too far, and now magic returned with a vengeance. It comes in waves, without warning, and vanishes as suddenly as it appears. When magic is up, planes drop out of the sky, cars stall, electricity dies. When magic is down, guns work and spells fail.  It’s a volatile, screwed-up world. Magic feeds on technology, gnawing down on skyscrappers until most of them topple and fall, leaving only skeletal husks behind. Monsters prowl the ruined streets, werebears and werehyenas stalk their prey; and the Masters of the Dead, necromancers driven by their thirst of knowledge and wealth, pilot blood-crazed vampires with their minds.  In this world lives Kate Daniels. Kate likes her sword a little too much and has a hard time controlling her mouth. The magic in her blood makes her a target, and she spent most of her life hiding in plain sight.  But sometimes even trained killers make friends and fall in love, and when the universe tries to kick them in the face, they kick back.  Magic Breaks is preceded by: Questionable Client (prequel short story), Magic Bites, Magic Burns, Magic Strikes, Magic Mourns (novella), Magic Bleeds, Magic Dreams (novella), Magic Slays, Gunmetal Magic, and Magic Rises.

Blurb from Magic Breaks:  No matter how much the paranormal politics of Atlanta change, one thing always remains the same: if there’s trouble, Kate Daniels will be in the middle of it…As the mate of the Beast Lord, Curran, former mercenary Kate Daniels has more responsibilities than it seems possible to juggle. Not only is she still struggling to keep her investigative business afloat, she must now deal with the affairs of the pack, including preparing her people for attack from Roland, a cruel ancient being with god-like powers. Since Kate’s connection to Roland has come out into the open, no one is safe—especially those closest to Kate.  As Roland’s long shadow looms ever nearer, Kate is called to attend the Conclave, a gathering of the leaders from the various supernatural factions in Atlanta. When one of the Masters of the Dead is found murdered there, apparently at the hands of a shapeshifter, Kate is given only twenty-four hours to hunt down the killer. And this time, if she fails, she’ll find herself embroiled in a war which could destroy everything she holds dear…

Other Notable Releases This Month

91Je79XttQL._SL1500_There were a few other notable mentions this month that didn’t make it on the Most Anticipated Hit List for one reason or another.  This month we have three more books for you to check out.  The first is Dark Lycan by Christine Feehan, released on September 3rd.  There seems to be a unanimous opinion going around that this series has lost a little of it’s spark.  Still a good author and a good series, but not at the front of the line in my reading roster anymore.  I’ll still read it, but I can wait a bit longer to get to it.  Blurb: Tatijana of the Dragonseekers spent centuries encased in ice with her sister, trapped in limbo between life and death, never speaking to a soul other than those who tormented her. Now, she has been freed from her frozen prison by an unknown descendent. Awakened in human form, Tatijana yearns to explore the modern world in which she now lives—a world with more mysteries than she is prepared for.  Fenris Dalka has returned to the Carpathian Mountains after a long absence to be with his brother. He is scarred by centuries of battle, and every hard-won victory. But the real reason for his return home could prove deadly if discovered by the wrong man—or woman. Upon his arrival, he is compelled by a beautiful and enigmatic stranger who carries the scent of fresh earth, of forest, of the night itself.  In time Tatijana and Fenris will discover all that unites them—their secrets and pasts, their predators, and the hot flush of passion that stirs their souls. Yet just as surely, seduced into the silvery darkness of a full-moon night, they’ll also discover everything ancient and evil that exists to destroy them.

81VANeQxSxL._SL1500_The next one is Ritual Magic by Eileen Wilkes which was also released on September 3rd.  This another series that has went a bit stale for me.  I’ll definitely read it, but again not a front contender.  Blurb:  On her 57th birthday, Lily’s mother suddenly loses all memory beyond the age of twelve. Lily knows her mother was attacked by something more than magic. More . . . and darker.  When Lily and Rule discover that others suffered the same, mysterious loss—at the same time on the same night—their investigation into the darkness begins. Joining them is someone Lily never thought she’d see again: Al Drummond, who once tried to destroy her. He also happens to be dead. But the mysterious attacks were caused by a power strong enough to affect matters beyond the world of the living.  With some victims losing years of memory and others their lives, Lily must discover what on earth—or beyond—connects them.

818FuJ9Kg9L._SL1500_Third, we have Bound by Night by Larissa Ione, which was released on September 24th.  As a favorite author of mine, I love her books.  This one launches a new series, so i’m reserving judgement on it…:)  Blurb:  Nicole Martin was only eight years old when she narrowly survived a massacre: her family’s vampire slaves rebelled and killed everyone in her household. Twenty years later, Nicole now dedicates herself to finding a vaccine against vampirism…and eradicating the gruesome memories that give her nightmares.  Riker, a member of the wild vampire Moon Clan, is haunted by his own demons—his wife Lorraine had been captured and enslaved by the Martin family. It was during a botched escape attempt that she was killed, along with their unborn child. Still wracked with grief and anger, Riker is now fueled solely by the desire to rescue vampire slaves…and slaughter their owners.   When Riker stumbles upon Nicole in a chance meeting, he immediately recognizes her as a member of the Martin family that once enslaved his wife—and she recognizes him as the wild vampire she saw kissing a pregnant slave in the moments before her violent death—an image that has haunted her dreams for years.   When Riker kidnaps Nicole and they spend a night together in a cave on the way back to his clan, suddenly they begin to realize that they aren’t as different from one another as they may have thought—and they’re finding themselves drawn to one another
